The Jewel of the Jersey Shore

It’s no surprise this hotel is haunted given that the name comes from a Belgian cemetery where soldiers were buried from WWI. Built in 1922, The Flanders Hotel set the tone for Ocean City, New Jersey. Every establishment after the construction of The Flanders Hotel followed the theme of a Spanish Mission Revival.

In 1927, a fire on the boardwalk destroyed everything except the hotel. It’s a miracle that the building still stands today. After the fire, the front of the hotel was given an addition along with a pool.

Flanders Hotel has welcomed celebrities such as Vice President Charles Curtis, Al Capp, Jimmy Stewart and Grace Kelly.

The grim history of America’s most haunted prison

Processed with VSCO with c1 presetGargoyles sit atop Eastern State Penitentiary’s entrance.

I lay on my bunk.
The days and nights bleed together. There is only a small circle of light from the ceiling that peers into the cell every now and again. Two doors lead to the outside world. One to the prison. One to my cinder block pen.
I lay. I think. I plan.

I am excited to start my journey into the paranormal, but first, background information is important on your adventure with me into the spooky spots of the Delaware Valley. Continue reading “Finding your town’s hidden gem”

Welcome to my blog!

Don’t you hate how far some haunted attractions can be? What if I told you that there are places near you where you can see spooky places?

I’m Lauren Kubiak and I have decided to search the hidden treasures of spine-chilling buildings and sites in my own area. I love going to scary places and this is the perfect time for me to go exploring and write about it!

In the upcoming weeks I plan on going to sites such as Fort Delaware in Delaware City, The Barnsboro Inn in my town and many more. I would like to find the history of each place and why it is considered “haunted.”

I will be conducting interviews with not only the owner or person(s) in charge but with people who have been there and are convinced of a haunting. I’d like to get my hands on as much information that I can for each site so I can develop a compelling story.

Some stories I plan to write include a Q&A, video interviews, audio interviews and photographs.

Photographing the location is very important and capturing proof of a spirit would be the greatest accomplishment.

I am currently planning the upcoming months and have a few concrete dates. I will be visiting Fort Delaware October 8 for a Paranormal Adventure. Please check back on my page for the upcoming events.

Sit back, relax and get spooked!
